Love Story What a difference a day makes! It is absolutely gorgeous out today! 79 Degrees with only 52 percent humidity and a cool, yes, I said cool breeze! I still have 3 more days before I go back to work so I hope to go somewhere I want to tell you a little story about something that happened on Tuesday. If your not into sap, skip this. I just thought is was nice. I had to go to the pharmacy to pick up Terry's prescription. There are about 5 chairs you can sit in while you wait. I normally call in my meds, but I had to hand deliver this one and I wasn't about to go home in that heat and turn around to go back, so I took a seat to wait the 20 or so minutes. There was one seat left and this man and woman came by. They were, I would guess, about 75 to 80 years old. The woman was pushing a cart. The man came over and sat next to me and the woman wandered off. About 10 minutes went by and back she comes. She hands her husband a big box of chocolate covered peanuts. Go ahead", she said."I'll pay for them at the register when I pay for your pills." He took the box, looked at it and then looked back at her. It was as though he was afraid to open it. I don't know what possessed me to do it, but I leaned over toward him and whispered, "You know that if you tear the top off that before they scan it at the register, an alarm goes off, don't you?" Dont tell the old fool that! Hell believe you, she said laughing. He didnt open them. I stood up and offered the lady my seat. She tried to argue with me, but in the end she sat down. She took the box of peanuts from her husband and tore open the box. He looked like a little boy about to be caught with his hand in the cookie jar. After a second, realizing that no bells had gone off, he proceeded to go at them with zeal. His wife and I started chit-chatting about the heat and she told me how just the day before, her son had bought them an air conditioner for their bedroom. I looked at the way she would reach over and lightly touch his arm as she spoke. I asked how long they had been married. She told me that next week they will celebrate their 55th wedding anniversary. They glanced at each other and I saw all the love in the world in that look. We chatted a few more minutes and the pharmacist hollered out, Murray I started towards the counter and the lady stood up and came over. I think she said Murray I told her. I thought she said Perry. she replied. At that moment, I wasnt sure myself so I hollered and asked what name the called. She repeated the name Murray. My inner child was on the rampage, I tell ya. I turned and looked at (now I know) Mrs. Perry and stuck out my tongue. na-na-na-na-na-na! I-i-i-m F-i-i-i-rst! Just then, the pharmacist hollered, Perry This lady ran back to the counter and grinned at me. Well see whos first, she said. The clerk came to the counter and asked if she could help someone. This little 80 pound 75 year old woman answered in a voice fit for a Queen on her throne. That would be me, I was here first, she boomed. Then she turned to me and she giggled. She actually giggled! I threw up my hands and said, Ok, you win, but this means Im gonna have to meet you out in the parking lot and settle this, dont you? She said shed meet me out there. I then thanked this dear sweet lady. I told her I couldnt remember when the last time was that I had so much fun in a pharmacy. She agreed and thanked me too. I left before her and went out to my car. I took a second to appreciate the wonderful feeling I was having and started the car. As I looked over my shoulder to back out, I saw them both walking across the parking lot hand in hand. As I sit here writing this, I have a smile on my face. Life is good. Later...
Later, Cosmic
