Telemarketers Ok, I'm going out on a limb here folks. I stand the risk of getting beat up, I'm sure, but I have to write this. roadiepig mentioned telemarketers in his entry that I just read. No, he didn't complain, but it made me think. A lot of people (not him) love to jump on their case as though their sole purpose in life it to upset your dinner hour. I just want to set a record straight. I am NOT a telemarketer. I have no family or friends that are telemarketers. I do't even KNOW a telemarketer. Ok, I needed to say that first. On to the reason for this post. I think we need to cut them some slack. Some telemarketers are housewives with one, two or more kids that can't find a sitter for a regular 8 - 5 job, nor afford one. For this reason, they have to take jobs with hours that will fit their schedule. Some telemarketers are college kids that have to pay their own way through college so they don't end up a crack-smokin drop out with no education. Some telemarketers are people who, for whaterver reason, may be physically handicapped and unable to maintain any job requiring standing, lifting or whatever. Telemarketers are working folks. They aren't out robbing people. They aren't eating up the welfare checks. They aren't crying poverty while sitting on their couches eating chocolates and surfing the TV all day. They are hard working, honest people just trying to make a buck. Granted, I do't want them calling me before 9 am or after 9 pm, but for the most part, they don't. I try to talk to anyone of them that calls me. Sometimes I actually buy what they are selling. Often, I dont. But at least one thing can be said for the all intrusive, annoying, begging telemarketers.... At least they work. Ok, I'm done. Later...
Later, Cosmic
