All Good Around Here! Hey everyone! Did ya miss me? Well we have been spending some quality time catching up on laughing, healing and sleeping. Terry is absolutely wonderful. You wouldn�t even know he had been sick at all. I am looking forward to seeing my pulmonary specialist in April to see if we can shake up my meds to work a little better. Other than that, I�m great too. I have been planning where to put things in the new place when we move. I had Charl send me a copy of the blueprints for the apartment and I have been having fun with it. Planning whereto put everything is much easier when you have all the measurements. I fired the Homemaker girl. She was great at what she did, but the biggest reason I hired her was to change the bedding. With both beds up against the wall, it was impossible for me to do. I then came up with a much less costly idea. I bought two bookcase headboards and I will sell the two bed stands on either side of the bed and the metal headboards we have now. Then I can move all around both sides of both beds to make them and Terry has room to go up his side to get in and in the morning, he just backs out. The bookcase has plenty of room for books, our water, our tissue, phone and anything else we need in the night time. I gave the Homemaker Agency my reason for letting Alisha go and told her that if I were to need their services in the future, I would ask for the same girl because she was excellent. Alisha was fine with it. She said she could pick up another client with no problem so everyone is happy.
You all know how I love to write letters for good service and products and bad, right? Well, yesterday I sent on off to Betty Crocker. Terry wanted a snack so he went into the kitchen and whipped up a batch of dark fudge brownies. Those brownies were the moistest, richest, chocolatiest (is SO a word) brownies I have ever had.
Now I know that most, if not all of you are thinking, �Well, Karen, that may indeed be true, but why would you write to the company to tell them that? What�s the big deal?� Well, it is one thing to be the moistest and the richest. And it�s another thing to be the, chocolatiest, but here is the thing. The �Best if used before� date was January 24th 2005. Yes folks, 2005! Over 4 years old! Ha! And we wonder why we get sick so often, hehe. No, seriously, I am sure there was no danger. Well, I hope there wasn�t, since we are still eating them. But I have to tell ya, I wrote to them and I bet you dimes to donuts (no pun intended) that we get a free batch of brownies out of the deal.
I am taking a stand. I grew up in a school system in Maine that at the time, taught us that when you had a series of three or more things in a sentence, you would write it like this: �I put on my coat, hat and gloves before leaving.� Somewhere in time, there became the series comma, or Oxford comma that changed all that to now read: �I put on my coat, hat, and gloves before leaving.� Several times while I was working, I was told that my was wrong. I argued that many countries still agreed with me and that it is technically still accepted in the United States.
So I just thought I would state here and now, that I am not going to use the series comma nor the Oxford comma ever. Wow, did that take a weight off my mind. I feel so free now! Sometimes you just have to be wild and crazy!
