Sexting Another Public Service Announcment. If you are under 18, please read this. Don't think it has nothing to do with you. It may have. Or it may have something to do with a friend. Please read it. Nothing learned is ever wasted. Sexting I am going to give you a few situations and see if you can tell me what they all have in common.
Situation #1. You are deeply in love with your boyfriend. you are on the phone with him one night and you are lying in your bed in just your panties and t-shirt. He talks you into taking off the t-shirt and (or it's your idea) to take a picture of yourself and send it over the phone to him. So you do. Situation #2. You are in the locker room with your almost naked fellow students. You are a guy or a girl. All of a sudden, you see the skinny guy over in the corner. Everyone makes fun of him because he is the class nerd. You snap a quick picture of him and send it to all you friends.
Situation #4. You happen to walk in on a couple of your friends in a half dressed situation in the middle of having sex. Being funny, you snap their picture and send it to a couple of classmates. What do all of these situations have in common? In some, you are just being funny. In a couple, you are being mean. In one, you don't think you aren doing anything wrong at all. What is similar??
In EVERY case, if this gets into the hands of a Law Enforcment person, you face a minimum of 15 years in prison. Repeat after me. Sending any half naked pictures, even of yourself in which the person in the picture is under 18 is child porn. Kiddie porn. A Felony.
Let's just say you were in the #1 situation. You are safe, right? Your boyfriend loves you. He would never ever let anyone else see that picture. Hmmm. Okay, what if you break up? And he is angry. Can you be sure it wouln't make it's way to someone else? And now you have a new boyfriend. Do you still feel comfortable knowing your OLD boyfriend has a naked pic of you? How would your new guy feel about that?
Regardless how it happened. The very second the picture gets transmitted, a crime has been comitted. It doesn't matter if the picture was sent of yourself or not, it is still a crime and you can and very well may go to jail. Kiddie porn is a crime if the "kid" is 2, 12 or 17. Say goodbye to your family and friends. 15 year minimim No college scholarships, no young bride, not much of a life before age 33. Moving along to a lesser fate, what if your boyfriend or girlfriend has a pic like that of you and you get in a fight? Hmmm. What if you lay your phone down and someone pics it up and sees the pic and sends it it straight from your phone into cyberspace? Hmmmm. You will have a fun time trying to convince a judge and jury that you didn't send it yourself. Bottom line. Keep your clothes on. If cell phones are allowed in your school, go to the principal and tell them you want a ban on phones in the showers, toilets and locker rooms. This is becoming an increasingly large problem in schools. something like this could not only ruin a life, but could be the straw that broke the camels back in a case where a student already is dealing with severe emotional problems.Take care of yourselves and take care of your friends. If you are a 15 to 17 year old and came here by accident, I hope you learned something. Google hitters, I hope that words like sexting, nude teens, kids, felony, and pedophiles brought you here too. I hope all of you with the exception of pedophiles learned something. As for the pedophiles, just do me a favor and curl up in a ball and die. Thank you for your time.
PS I am still very busy with the computer and will not be doing much for this week.
Later, Cosmic
