One more rant, just for the heck of it. 2nd entry for the day.
I wasn�t going to talk about the election again but something kind of set me off today so I just wasn�t to express another thought I have been pondering.
Why is it that when someone that is considered a terrorist or anti Christian comes out in support of a politician, that politician immediately is assumed to be a terrorist or anti Christian? And if a politician is not a Christian, why is it assumed that he is an evil person? There are some horrible Muslims. Yes. There are also some horrible Christians, Atheists and every other religious or non-religious groups. There are wonderful ones too. I believe there are many, many wonderful Muslim families both here and in Iraq. Just like there are wonderful German people, Irish people and any other ethnic culture you would add.
Why do some (lots, but not all) Christians think that all Muslims are terrorists and they all want to kill us and they are horrible, but those (some) same people think it�s perfectly okay to send soldiers over there to kill all of them. I scratch my head.
Many people profess to practice a religion that insists on love, forgiveness and understanding, but in the next breath they accuse Barack Obama of being the antichrist because of some of those that support him have shady pasts and known connections with bad people.
Just because someone is supporting you and your beliefs, it doesn�t mean you are having them over for dinner. If Charles Manson started announcing publicly that he supports McCain, do we have to suddenly fear McCain and accuse him of hanging around with or being a drugged out Nazi? I would hope not. I wish the candidates, both of them, would stop the mud slinging. Leave that to us Joe the Plumbers. I want to know what they both are going to do, not what they did 20 or 30 years ago. I would hate to be held up to public scrutiny for my sins of the past. Hells, bells. I would be tarred and feathered and run out of town. (Those were the good old days.) I am not the person I was in my 20�s by a long shot. In the final analysis, one of them is going to be our new president. He will be the leader of this great country of ours. My hope is that before I die, the position of President might once again become a position of respect and adoration. We need someone that can work with others to rebuild this country back to the awesome, just, and admired country it once was instead of the laughing stock we have become world-wide. I would like to see patriotism return to when the national anthem is played even children know to salute the flag with pride. Yes, I am an idealist. I own a pair of rose colored glasses. My glass is half full. You won�t see me give up on my dream. We, as a people can do this. We can chose to rally around the new President regardless who it is. We need to do this. United we stand, divided we fall. We have already fallen far enough. Lets get back up, dust ourselves off and leave this country better than we found it.
