Snow and Bad News Snow days!! Gotta Love 'em.
I got up this morning after lying in bed listening to the cars speed by the house. I thought Mother Nature had pulled a cruel joke on me. I thought she had failed to come through with the snowstorm that was predicted. I got up when the alarm went off at 6:30 but something told me not to get ready for work. I still had hope. I came down and opened the door and noted about an inch of fresh fallen snow on the porch. The road was down to the bare pavement, thanks to our illustrious DOT. They had done their jobs well. Too well. Imagine my glee when I logged on to NBC local site and saw that the Schools had cancelled! Yippee! No work! A free day off with pay! How totally happy I was. The snow was so beautiful. I was tickled pink. It is now 4:30. A mere 10 hours later. I have shoveled the damn porch and stairs off three times. I have shoveled the 20 foot handicapped ramp off three times. I have cleaned my car off three times. Enough with the damn snow already!!!! It will take a week to get rid of this! Alas, it is still snowing. It will be all passed by 5:30. I have done nothing today but sit on my butt. It's been nice though. On a not so nice note, my sister Buella just called me from NC. Her son just re-enlisted in the Army and was transferred from Alaska to Kentucky. He, his wife and 2 year old are still in a military hotel awaiting their apartment. There furniture isn't even there yet from Alaska and he was told this morning that he is shipping out in two weeks. He hasn't been told where yet. Gee, let me guess. He is with the 10127 Airborn Division out of Fort Campbell, Kentucky. His poor wife is going to left with a two year old in a strange city with total strangers. Buella said she is going to go stay with her for support. Buella is a basket case herself right now. She called me because she has no cable TV right now and wanted me to check the web for any news. Unfortunately, I could read ner nothing to ease her fears. I am terrified for him. Please keep him and all our soldiers in your prayers. I don't know what is going to happen over there, but I hope if anything does, that it is swift. Later... Later, Cosmic
