Catch-up Good Morning, Taking a break this busy weekend. Yesterday I had a memorial to go to. Jan, my co-worker's mom passed away on June 18th at the age of 96. Because of all the family being spread throughout the US, they postponed the service until yesterday. She had been blind since the age of 37 and widowed at the age of 40 something. She became deaf not long after. Not wanting to take any free handouts, she took in laundry and ironing to support her three children. By the age of 77, she needed more care than family could give with working all the time and she went into a nursing home. She has been there 18 years. Until about 7 years ago, Jan was there every day. Finally, when her mother stopped recognizing her, she cut back to 2 or 3 days a week. A more loving daughter has never existed. Now, at 65, Jan said goodbye. She is now free to take trips with her husband and the responsibility is gone to stay here in town. Her brother and sister don't live around here so all the caregiving was left to Jan. She never resented it, nor complained. During the eulogy, her brother openly, speaking for himelf and Jan's sister thanked Janet for all her years of sacrifice. He also thanked her husband for his role through the years. It was a simple but beautiful service. I opted to come home after instead of joining everyone for food and chatter. I spoke with all of the family at the church that I knew. I came home and Terry made us brunch and I got busy making cases for all of our DVDs. Now I am sitting for a bit and will continue with the packing front. The nice man at the Senior Center was overruled by his friend so he will not be taking Goodgirl. He poster was put up on Monday and I still have had no calls. I am persuing other avenues of adoption. I haven't given up. I found the folowing at Art's place Your Summer Ride is a Beetle Convertible | Fun, funky, and a little bit euro. You love your summers to be full of style and sun! |
