On the Road Again....

Well, its finally happened. The landlord called today to ask if he can show the apartment tomorrow. At first he asked if he could show it at 11:00 on Saturday. I said that wouldnt be a problem. Then he called back to see if it would be too much of an inconvenience to show it tomorrow. I joked that I would have to be up all night cleaning. He told me not to clean at all. My place would be fine just the way it is.

This is really going to happen folks. It is really going to be sold. We are definitely going to be out of here eventually. I knew it was going to happen, I had just hoped it wouldnt happen until we moved.

The best laid plans of mice and men, yadda, yadda, yadda.

I had hoped too, that he wouldnt start showing it until after the holidays. Merry freakin Christmas.

Our landlord has been wonderful the past almost 8 years we have rented here and one year before this place. He has gone up on the rent once. That was just a few months ago and it was only $50.00. Where are you going to find a two bedroom duplex with garage for $600.00 a month? Our rent is so low that no matter where we go, we will be spending at least $150.00 more per month. That is if we can even find a place. Apartments in this town are rare. Add to that the fact that it has to be on the first floor and handicapped accessible. And then on top of that, we will have to move again when a unit in public housing becomes available. Merry Christmas indeed.

The landlord seems to think that we may not even have to move, but guaranteed, with the mortgage that this place will be will mean that whomever buys it will have go up a heck of a lot on our rent. The good news is that we put an elevator in here making the spare room too small for a second bedroom. That means that unless they buyer sinks a lot of money in here to remove the elevator and replace the walls, floor, etc, it will not be feasible for anyone with children and that means that means that they will have to rent to someone disabled and/or childless. Most people that have lots of money, own their own homes and those that dont live on Social Security. Ergo, not a whole lot of bucks. The new owner would be better off keeping us.

Oh well, its a waiting game either way. I am not going to lose sleep over it. What will be, will be. I cant change it. I have no say over it. So I may as well just keep my fingers crossed and relax.

I hit CVS today. That, for those of you that are not from New England, is our local Pharmacy chain. They are the closest place to get the candy for Halloween, Valentines Day, etc.

The day of Halloween, Terry asked if I was going to pick up candy. I told him there was no point since we havent ever had a trick-or-treater here for the past 7 years. He whined, he cried, he held his breath til his face turned blue. I didnt budge.

Yesterday I got home and found the livingroom vacuumed and dusted, the dishes done, the floor swept, washed and waxed and trash put out. He really wanted some of that candy and today it was 50% off.

Wow, did I score! M&Ms, Crunch bars, Oreo snack bags, Skittles and Tootsie Rolls! Terry is one very happy camper today.

Thank God that even though he is a Cancer survivor, double amputee, High blood pressured, emphysema sufferer, Im happy. Why? He doesnt have diabetes!!

That man of mine! Gotta keep him happy!

Later,
Cosmic
