1, 2, 3..... Goodbye Captain!!!
Bob Keeshan has died. I paid tribute to Mr. Rogers when he passed away, but I wasnt a real fan of his. This isnt so with Captain Kangaroo. Some of my first memories were of sitting in my living room after my 5 brothers and sisters went to school. I would watch the Captain, Mr. Greenjeans, Mr. Moose, Bunnyrabbit and Grandfather Clock. I would wait in anticipation for Mr. Moose to trick the Captain to say the right words when all the ping-pong balls would fall down on him.
Mr. Greenjeans would tell us about all the animals and tell us that you had to have respect for nature. And Bunny Rabbit woulndt say anything, but he always made you understand what he meant.
But my favorite part of the show was the interactive part.
I am sad about Captain Kangaroos passing. He was 76. Its hard to imagine that when I was watching him at the age of 3, he was only 29.
But I will forever remember,
1, 2, 3 Wake up Grandfather!!! (note: Today's date is 1/23, Coincidence?)
Later,
Cosmic
