Change is Good (Sometimes)

Ok, I'm bored again. You know what that means by now. Going to do a new layout. I think all the flowers and fruit are making me mushy. Time for something BOLD...Time for something FUN...Time for something
NutTy!!

I know, I know. I change it all the time. It is a good thing that I have my diary to change. It wasn't that simple once upon a time.

Hair

It was a Friday night. The year was 1972 and once again the ex decided to take his paycheck and go out with the guys instead of coming home from work. I wouldn't have had a problem with it except he wouldn't call to say he was going. The reason he didn't do this is because I wasn't allowed to go out without him. I had this system. Whenever I wanted to do something that he hated, I would wait till one of the "friday Nights" to do it. He would stay out until 2 or 3 o'clock and get totally shitfaced. Come Saturday morning, he wouldn't DARE utter a word no matter what I had done. Well, I wanted to dye my hair. I always hated my mousey dirty blonde hair. But he would have none of it! In his opinion dying your hair meant only 2 things. Either you were a whore, or you were over 40 and had to cover the gray.

Well, like I said. It was one of "those" Fridays. When he wasn't home by 5:30, I knew I was home free. I went to the local drug store and picked up a bright red hairdye. I browsed and looked around and figured, hey! maybe curley would be good, so I picked up some new rollers too. I went home and did my hair and threw in the rollers. By 12:00 I was too tired to wait up anymore and went to bed.

He came home at some point and crawled into bed. I never woke up. You know that feeling you have sometimes that someone is staring at you? That was the feeling I woke up to. I was facing away from him, but I could feel his eyes on me. Finally, I rolled over and looked him in the eye. I have never in my life before or since seen such a look of total relief! He let out the biggest breath of air I have ever heard. He never said a word. He told my brother the following day that when he woke up, he knew, even though he was suffering the hangover from hell, that he was in his own house. The problem came when he looked over and saw the strange redhead in bed with him. He knew it wasn't me because he knew those weren't my rollers. He said he laid there for 45 minutes waiting for me to wake up trying to figure out what he had done, who I was, and where the hell his wife was. It was many, many moons before he went out on Payday again.

Furniture

Something else I used to do a lot was rearrange my furniture. It was another of "Those Friday Nights". I purposely waited untill then because during the day, the kids were underfoot and God forbid I did it at night and got between the Ex and his televised football, basketball _insert any sport here_ game. So I would wait till he was out and the kids were in bed. One particular night I decided to rearrange the bedroom. Again, it got late so I went to bed. I didn't sleep through him getting in bed THAT night! Nosiree! I woke up to a "CRASH!! BANG!! WTF????? Who moved the FUCKIN BED!?!?!?! Poor dear went to pass out on the bed but, Ooops, it wasn't there anymore! I damn near wet myself I laughed so hard.

I really am not up to changing the furniture anymore and my hair has been red since that fateful night. Yup. Changing my diary layout is a lot safer for all concerned.

Later...

Later,
Cosmic
