I Think I Beat Forest Gump when it Comes to Walking

OK! We made it to Foxwoods!!! (Finally!)It started out nice enough. We had a nice ride there. It only takes about 20 minutes. I had my voucher to pick up my $100.00 so we went into the first casino room called Cedar's Casino. I went up to the window and showed my letter, fully expecting to receive my money. Ummm, not quite.
The nice man in the blue jacket told me that I had to take my little letter to the "old" part of the casino. I had to find the people in the cages with green jackets. This meant walking through the entire new section on carpet.

Terry hasn't been out in his manual chair in a while, so his arms aren't really in shape. So he would roll then I would push, he would roll and I would push. I didn't really check the distance, but it has to be half a mile from one end to the other. You know youve reach the mid point when you see the huge beautiful statue of the Indian in the middle. We passed that. I got to the casino on the far end and walk up to the window with the men in the green jackets A lovely lady with gray hair and a green jacket smiles and takes the letter.

"Oh my" she says, "you are in the wrong place dear. You have to take this to the new section."

Well pardon me all to hell!

"Ummmm, I just walked 2 miles from the old section and they told me I had to come here." I answered.

"Well, why they ever told you that is beyond me! It says right here in the letter that you have to give this to the people in the cage at the Pequot Casino. Just look for the people in the cage wearing the green jackets. "

Hell's Bells! She was right! Of course she was. And I, having been there all of 5 or 6 times in my life should KNOW there are different rooms with different names.

"Thank you." I managed to spit out while wearing my sweetest grammaw smile.

Push and walk, push and walk, push and walk back passed the stupid Indian Statue. All the way back to the Cedar Casino. I walked up to one of the employees with a green jacket and asked where the Pequot Casino would be. He told me that it was back the way I had come, luckily it wasnt too far. We got there and I found the cage and went up to the window to the man with the green jacket and gave him the letter. He told me he would be back and disappeared. By now I am ready to take on the whole Mashantucket tribe!

Lucky for him, he came back, had me sigh a form and proceeded to hand me a nice crisp $100.00 bill. Now thats a nice boy. His name was Santiago. Nice Indian name.

By the time we finished with that we were starving! Well we are now on the far side of the new section. We have our free tickets to the buffet and all of a sudden it hits me. The Festival Buffet is in, you guessed it, the old section Back over the carpet, (push, walk, push walk) passed the Fuckin (sorry cassiopeia-) Indian and down to the buffet.

Ok, I am lured into a false sense of finality here. We get our meal, we sit down and enjoy, right? Ummm, wrong again.

To get into the buffet there are two lines. One is for most people and one is for handicapped. Im in like Flint cause everyone knows the handicapped line gets there quicker, right? Umm wrong again. We had to wait until a table became available with an end table for Terrys wheelchair. Luckily we didnt wait long and were escorted to our seats. By then I could see the food lines. Well Im here to tell you one thing. The entrances and exits are handicap accessible, the bathrooms are handicap accessible, and the entry to the buffet is accessible but thats where it ended. There were about 6 different lines to different gourmet delights. There was a seafood line, a oriental line, a bar-b-q line end a few others, but If you were 40 pounds overweight there is no way are you going to walk through that line, never mind the width of a wheelchair.

So I carried a plate from station to station standing in line filling it with all the things I thought Terry would like. Then I had to start all over with my own plate.

We ate our meal and I will say, the food was fantastic. We blew the $100.00 bucks and came home. Harry Potter will just have to wait for another day. We had left the house at 11:30. We left Foxwoods at 5:00. We were beat. The funny part is that I dont think we gambled for more than an hour or so. We had a good time though. I will say that after all was said and done, the money and meal were not really free. I walked my ass off for it. It was worth it. But if I never see another green jacket for the rest of my life, it will be too soon.

Later

Later,
Cosmic
