Almost Friday First of all, thank you all for your best wishes for Deja. For the record, her real name is Eudeja, pronounced u-DAY-zsa (like Zsa zsa Gabor) emphasis on the day. She did fantastic for a 6 year old being hooked up to all those wires. She was told to go to sleep last night at 9:00, and she did. They woke her up at 7:00a.m. and fed her breakfast. At 9:00a.m. they told her to go to sleep, and she did. They woke her 20 minutes later. At 11:00 a.m. they told her to sleep, and she did. 20 minutes later they woke her. 2 more times, at 1:00 and 3:00 they told her to sleep and she did. They loved her. I am sure it isnt often that a child is so cooperative. Of course, we wont know the results for awhile. When I know, you will know. On the Brittni front, I am assuming there were no signs of TB on her x-ray. My reasoning is that Her x-ray was on Monday, her doctor has the results my now but he hasn't called Lori. Since she tested positive, they will still give her the whole cycle of medication to rid her body of it either way. So all in all, it hasnt been a bad day.
Well, this is interesting. In case you dont want to read the article, the Readers Digest condensed version is a woman was upset because her kids, were fighting and her 12 year old daughter was out of control. She was throwing things and being a general pain in the ass. The dispatchers answer to her was, "OK. Do you want us to come over to shoot her?" Bad taste? Obviously. Uncalled for? Decidedly. A great answer for a woman calling 911 when someone could be trying to reach them for a loved one having a heart attack? Absolutely!! No, of course it was not proper, but damn it, she had no business tying up a line that should be reserved for life and death situations. Other news articles say she wants him fired. I dont think that is warranted. He immediately apologized to her and then reported himself to his supervisor. He has been reprimanded but that isnt good enough for the mother. She wants blood. What was he to do? Send the national guard? Give her family counseling? Gee, that would have worked. But never mind Grandma laying on the floor with a broken hip. She can wait awhile. Cry me a friggen river.
That leads me to this wonderful e-mail I received today. Lot of good stuff comes to me by way of e-mail Rather Remarkable Obituary Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Mr. Common Sense. Mr.Sense had been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old he was since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape. He will be remembered as having cultivated such value lessons as knowing when to come in out of the rain, why the early bird gets the worm and that life isn't always fair. Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don't spend more than you earn) and reliable parenting strategies (adults, not kids, are in charge). His health began to rapidly deteriorate when well intentioned but overbearing regulations were set in place - reports of a six-year-old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate; teens suspended from school for using mouthwash after lunch; and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student, only worsened his condition. Mr. Sense declined even further when schools were required to get parental consent to administer aspirin to a student; but, could not inform the parents when a student became pregnant and wanted to have an abortion. Finally, Common Sense lost the will to live as the Ten Commandments became contraband; churches became businesses; and criminals received better treatment than their victims. Common Sense finally gave up the ghost after a woman failed to realize that a steaming cup of coffee was hot, she spilled a bit in her lap, and was awarded a huge settlement. Common Sense was preceded in death by his parents, Truth and Trust; his wife, Discretion; his daughter, Responsibility; and his son, Reason. He is survived by two stepbrothers; My Rights and Ima Whiner. Not many attended his funeral because so few realized he was gone. If you still remember him, pass this on; if not, join the majority and do nothing.
