Children. Gottal love 'em I left a comment in mom-on-roof's diary today. Her entry, among other things (darn, she is a funny lady!)was about teenagers. She asks if there is a light at the end of the tunnel, or something to that effect, when it comes to kids. There is. There is a God, and his name is payback. I will share the comment I left her and add a bit to it. My daughter was a teenager once. It was 13 years ago that she left her teens. But for 7 years she was one. She forgets that now that she has a teen of her own. She also has the younger two. Today, we were talking on the phone. She told me that if her kids are doing something they aren't supposed to be doing, she tells them that "God is gonna get them." If they should get hurt while doing what they aren't supposed to, her answer to them is, "God got ya." I told her that this wasn't very nice. I don't think she should be using God as a boogey-man. Nor should she be using him as punishment. (No, I am not Caholic and wasn't raised by nuns.) She agreed that maybe it wasn't nice, but that's how it is at her house. A few minutes later, one of the two younger ones came bursting into the house to tell on the other one. Lori dealt with it, telling her she shouldn't be such a tattle-tale. Then she tells me how one is forever ratting out the other one. Constantly. She went on and on about their tattling, getting into this or that, etc. I started to speak, "Lori..." "I know," she said, "I probably did that all the time when Jeff and I were little." "No, Lori, I wasn't going to say that." "Then, what?", She asked. "God got ya." Ya, payback. Gotta love it. A mother's curse: (and I can still hear my mother saying it.) "When you grow up and have kids, I hope they are just like you!! And they were. Later, Cosmic
