Ever feel like the Weight of the world has been lifted?? Last night was hectic. I never got home from work until 5:00. Then brother Pete was here and we visited. By the time he left, I was wiped out. I got the call yesterday morning from Ms. I-dont-know-if-I-want-to-move. She said she is definitely taking the available three-bedroom that was offered to her. She then told me that I could go and look at hers if I wanted to. This was a no-brainer for me. Unless the roof was sitting in the middle of the living room floor, I knew I would want it. These units are public housing, but they are not in projects. They are beautiful duplexes scattered throughout town. We have very strict rules about living there. No toys are to be out in front of the house at night. Nothing allowed on the front porches. Rubbish cans must be kept out back. The housing Authority maintains the lawns and they are cut twice weekly in the summer. Or at least once a week if they are really busy. The girl that lives there now with her two boys has kept up the unit very well. It will only need paint in two rooms. It is beautiful!! The washer/dryer hook-ups are in the kitchen with enough room for a small kitchen table and chairs. It even has a dishwasher!! Terry says he wont use it though. Ha! Well see. We are the last house on the left of a small dead end street. (Ya, Last House on the Left Hows that for you horror flick fans?) The house sets back quite a way. I am guessing it sits back about 300 feet. Thats just the front lawn. On my side (left) there is a blacktop area for a patio set and grill. I dont have either right now, but its a thought. Another huge plus is that each side has its own parking. We share the common driveway till it gets up to the house and then it forms a Y around each side. On my side alone, there is room for 4 cars! No more parking problems!!! There are thick trees on all three sides, so it's like being out in the country. But the trees are evergreens and far enough away that there will be no more crap on the cars. I love it, love it, love it! I also have a full basement. I plan on putting a plastic table and chairs down there for the grandkids. Coloring books, crayons, bookshelf and a piece of carpeting will round out their own playroom. It is going to seem nice for them to be able to go out in the yard and play too. Im all giddy, I tell ya! Of course, this means that I am going to be cleaning and packing for the next two months, but that will seem like heaven! It is going to be like a chain reaction. Ms. Bought-a-house is waiting for the electricians/plumbers/etc. to finish up her modular and she will move. They will clean and paint her apartment. Then Ms. I-don't-know-if-I-want-to-move will move into that one and then they will have to clean and paint my place (the one she is moving out from) before we move in. It will be a little while, but there is light at the end of that there tunnel! Terry and I are celebrating. We are going out for brunch this morning. My sister Buella is arriving some time this afternoon and spending the night, so I may not be online for the rest of today and tomorrow morning. You all have a great week-end.
