Well, I guess I have a minute to post now. So Ill let you in on the latest. If this doesnt interest you, just scroll on down to the funny stuff.
My appointment with my specialist in Providence isnt until October 22nd. That means another week at least. Well Friday, I decided that this wasnt going to work. I am not a patient person. I want to feel better yesterday. I have no clue when he wants to try me on this new med. The first appointment we had was a consultation. At that time he told me they wouldnt even try me on the new meds unless I had been off the cigarettes for at least 6 days. The simple fact that I asked how many days I had to be smoke free, probably told him that I wouldnt be able to quit if I was willing to wait until the last minute.
I missed the next appointment because I was in the hospital.
I am sure that the doctor assumed the next meeting would be sort of like this.
Him: Have you quit smoking yet? Me: No, Im waiting to find out the date you are doing the procedure and I will quit six days before..
I am sure he has heard that a thousand times before. I am also sure that he reschedules and then goes through the same conversation. I think it turns into a catch-22. He wont schedule the test the patient has gone without a cigarette for 6 days, and the patient wont go 6 days without a cigarette until they know when are having the procedure.
Well, since I dont enjoy (Understatement of the year) riding all the way to Providence and back, I figured I might be able to save some time and running around. I called his office.
I got his receptionist and explained that I would like to find out what the appointment would entail, as I have anxiety issues with the ride. She said someone would get back to me. Sure. I know how that works. In another three hours to 4 days, his receptionist will call me back and tell me that he will discuss all of this at our next appointment.
Or not.
One hour later he, Dr. K himself, called me back. I asked if we would be doing the procedure on the 22nd and he said, No, this is just a consultation. He also said, The last time we spoke you were smoking. Have you made any progress in quitting?
As a matter of fact, I have. I have not had a cigarette in 67 days.
Really???? Wow! Thats great news! I see no need for another consultation. I will call you the first of next week with a date for the procedure.
He then went on to tell me about the procedure. Dr. B, the heart doctor, told me it was the same as a catherization for an angiogram. Well, it is and it isnt. They go in through the neck instead of the groin. They also go in through a vein instead of an artery. Much less dangerous. That makes me feel good because an angiogram isnt considered dangerous in this day and age. So aside from the going in at the neck part, this should be a cakewalk. He said it will be scheduled for the following week.
In case you forgot, this is to put the medicine directly into my lungs to see if it helps with the hypertension. They will know immediately. So if it does work, I will feel a whole lot better after. Any better will be appreciated.
I leave you with picture of youngest granddaughter, Miya at her graduation ceremony for Karate. She broke her board with her little 6 year old hand. The next is a video that I got in my Email this morning. I dont know who this little girl is, but I was out of breath just watching her! I laughed because she reminded me of Miya.
Again, I have no idea who the little one is in the video, but I will take full responsibility for the karate kid!
And now for the Dancing Queen who is not, repeat, not anyone I know. She is just way too cute!
And Happy 10th Birthday to my middle grandbaby, Deja!
