Tuesday Talkin I have been reading a bunch of the latest meme going around. Incase you havent taken it, it is the one with a bunch of small parts labeled, The Cans The Haves and others and then it has the second survey with 55 questions. It has to be the longest meme I have ever taken. The part that surprises me, is two questions in particular. When I first read them, I answered that no I didnt know the songs they referenced. These are the two questions:
9. What is your favorite DDG song? and 39. Do you know this song, We stay fly no lie you know this?
What surprised me is that of approximately 15 people I have read so far, not one had an answer. Not that I would expect anyone to have the answer to both or even one, but that nobody looked it up. I guess Im strange. I hate not knowing something someone else knows. Of course, to know everything would be impossible. Some things do not interest me in the least, so I dont care that I dont know them. I dont care for most French food, so I would have no desire to find out how cook Chicken Cordon Bleu. I like that, but I can buy it already made and pop it in the oven. But when asked a direct question, I am like a dog with a bone. I HAVE to find out the answer. This why my keyboard is the first part of my computer to wear out. Research, research, research!! Terry and I watching a movie. What did he play on that we used to watch? Karen turns to the keyboard and finds out everything the guy has been in since he was born. In doing that, Karen also finds out that he grew up in Mesopotamia, loves sports cars and studied ballet. This is not only interesting to me, but will also make any future conversation about him more interesting. I like being able to converse on a multitude of subjects. I dont want to appear unknowing or worse yet, ignorant. Ignorant isnt really a derogatory word. It just means unknowing. I want to know. So to that end, yes I did answer those two questions. I dont have a favorite DDG song, as I have read the lyrics to The Show Must Go On. And it isnt something I would listen to. The song We Stay fly no lie you know this? Is a song from Jim Jones that is actually the second version of a 50-cent song and now the name is no longer thought of as The show must go on, but the new title is Ballin according to my daughter. After reading the lyrics to that, I wouldn't want it in my house! Man, I sound more like my mom every day!! It is another rap song, but with lots of words like nig--- and crack and other words that I dont think belong in any song. JUST MY OPINION and Im entitled to it. And the first amendment still works for me. The bottom line is that I am wrong. I said just the other day to a Friend that nothing learned is ever wasted. I now stand corrected. That was a total waste of time to look that information up. It is approximately 15 minutes of my life that could have been spent more productively. Had I never learned about rap music, never listened to any, nor read the lyrics to one song, I would have survived. My head would have still been safely planted in the sand and I would be no worse for wear. Maybe sometimes ignorance is indeed, bliss. DISCLAIMER: I am sure there is some rap that is not in this catagory. I am sure there is clean rap that urges kids in the right direction. But this is not worth my time to even look for it. As for rap music it'self, I think calling it rap music is a misnomer. (I said misnomer and you didn't neener) I think it should be rapspeak. I see nothing musical about rap.
