Alarms

Hey, its only Wednesday and Im off for the rest of the week! How fan-futtin-tastic is that?? I need it. I am running on fumes.

Work is still mega-busy, the house is almost where I want it, and I have been making buttons again. Life is pretty darn good.

I have another project that I have to get going on now. Every year, I donate some of my web space to the Town of Ashaway for their winter Stroll. They have it every year. The whole town comes alive for one day. There is breakfast with Santa, craft shows, choruses and much, much more. I designed their website page two years ago. That was all well and good except that I have since changed my hosting provider so now I have to upload all the pics again and re-code every one of them. Aside from that, though, its just a matter of updating the schedule of events, the list of contributors, etc. I should be able to get it all done in one day. Hopefully.

We are loving our new place. I cant believe the difference from the old place. We have been here now for just shy of 7 weeks. I had put a bunch of DVDs on a bookshelf the first few days we were here. I have been so busy, I haven't gotten back to that bookcase since. I went to dust it off and I couldnt believe how little dust there was on it! At the old place, I could dust on Monday and by Friday, it was covered again. Thats what living on a main drag will do for you.

Everything is staying so nice! I will still be going crazy the next few days unpacking the 4, yes 4 boxes that still remain in the den and breaking down the 2,328,493,000 boxes in the basement. Ok, maybe not quite that many, but pretty close.

Terry and I were watching a movie the other night and I was hit with a thought. I dont even remember the movie, but there was a scene where someone was sleeping. The camera went to their alarm clock as it clicked to 6:00am and the radio alarm came on. The announcers voice came on saying Ok, Seattle, rise and shine. Its going to be another fantastic day out there today.

This made me realize something. Ever notice in almost every movie or TV show, that when the alarm goes off, it seems like the announcer is speaking just to the person its waking up? You never hear the radio go off in the middle of a commercial. It never goes off in the middle of a news broadcast. Almost never in the middle of a song. Nope. Almost always, it says something like the above, or maybe, Time to get out and greet the day! I question. Does everyone in TV land or Movie land have their own radio station on retainer for wake-up calls? Just wondering. My alarm usually goes off right in the middle of a song. Sometimes its a slow one, sometimes it a very loud one, but never in my life have I ever had mine go off and hear, Hey you. You need to get up now. Its time for work.

When I was little, of course, my mom was my alarm. But even then, it was never, Time to wake up, sweetheart. No, it was more like, GET UP!!!! YOUR LATE!!! SCHOOL!! Mom missed her calling. She would have made a great drill sergeant.

I think they need to invent a new alarm clock. Maybe they already have. I am usually the last to know about such things. Either way, you would be able to customize it. Mine, for instance would wake me with Sean Connerys voice. It would say:"Karen, my delectable beauty. Rise and shine. Toss back those bedcovers and remove your gorgeous body. Put on that adorable smile that I love so much and greet the world with joy. Have a wonderous day and I will wake you again in the morning."

That would work well until the morning comes that I dont want to get up and I sail it across the room into the opposite wall.

Well, it was just an idea.
