Disasters and disaster cable companies. There is nothing much going on here. I made the mistake of reading an article in our local TV site about disaster preparedness. I was going over in my mind about which room in my house would be the safest, how much money it would cost me for the duct tape, transistor radio, plastic etc. when all of a sudden it hit me. Why bother? Don't get me wrong. I don't want to die. Hell no! But think about it a second. Shadows of "The morning after" with Jason Robard went streaming through my conciousness. If we are to have a nuclear or biological tragedy. (And yes, that WOULD be a national tragedy) would I really want to be here after? Would I really want to watch all the pain and suffering after? Could I even live with the mass destruction and aftermath? I don't know. If we are to believe in a hereafter, and I know many of you don't and there's nothing wrong with that, why would we fight so hard to stay in a place filled with massive mourning and pain when the place we are going to is so much better? Again, I don't know. What I DO get a kick out of in a macarbe sort of way is how some people are running out to buy up all of the preparedness things I mentioned so they can survive a disaster such as this, but they are still eating junk food, smoking (yes, guilty as charged) drinking and drugging and all that other stuff. They seem to be putting all of this effort into saving themselves from a potential threat and all the while they are ignoring the one threat of their own mortality that CAN be avoided. Human nature never ceases to amaze me. Enough doom and gloom for one morning.
I get a long weekend!!! I am taking tomorrow as a vacation day and I have Monday off, so I get a total of 4, count them 4 days off. I am so very pleased. And today the men are coming to install our satelite dish. I am sick of dealing with the cable company. The bill started out at about $30.00 a year and a half ago and is now up to $45.00 for the same service. And they are talking about another increase. Bull! We may be dropping back to dial-up service too. At the moment we have Cox cable, Cox cable dial-up and Cox telephone. Total bill? $130.00 per month. They hit us with an increase last month on all three! I wish someone would invent a better mousetrap. At least a cheaper one. Well, time to go to work. I will catch you all again tonight or tomorrow. Later...
PS Thanks for ignoring my title. I just re-read it and saw the typos, hahah Later, Cosmic
