Below you will find 10 words, chosen at random. With each word you will respond with the first thing that comes to mind..... But let's take it another step further, shall we...... Of the 10 words, choose one, with the corresponding response and expand on them. Perhaps your response to that word was drawn from a memory that word posed or maybe it tickled your funny bone or inspired other creative ideas. The possibilities are endless.
1. Peanut Butter Jelly
2. Insatiable Starved
3. Daisies He loves me, he loves me not
4. Chewed Gum Does chewing gum lose its flavor on the bedpost over night? (old song)
5. Gang Warfare
6. Thunder Lightning
7. Monster Under the bed
8. Soda Pop New York (its just soda in Maine)
9. Insecure scared
10. Forest for the trees
The word I chose to expand on, if you will, is Forest. As in trees. The following was a submittal I wrote way way back when I belonged to Hush. Hush was another writing exercise site. I miss it. Anyway, this was written three years ago, almost to the day. (April 28, 2001)Though I have added to it today, I hope you enjoy it.

Treetrunks:
Imagine if people were tree stumps. I don't know what made that thought come into my head, but let's imagine it anyway. You could cut someone in half after they died and see how they lived.
You know the stumps that are huge in circumference? That would be someone that lived a long, long life.
The rings would, of course mark the years and events.
Middle circles that was perfectly round without flaws would probably represent a happy childhood.
As the rings formed outward, thick lines would denote weight gain, possibly pregnancies. A diseased bump, infested with termites might represent a cancer or maybe divorce. Holes of course, would stand for losses. Loved ones, missed opportunities etc.
Of course large holes made into the trunk by passing squirrels would perhaps be a time in one's life that they provided a haven for someone. A time of caring for a friend, or maybe an ill family member.
Abraham Lincoln would perhaps be an Oak Tree. Chronic complainers would come back as Weeping Willows. Politicians, no doubt would come back as trees that have an overabundance of sap. Those ugly trees you see in the swamps and in every horror movie? Those would be the Hitlers, the Charles Mansons and others that had no love or joy in them. People like Mother Teresa, Gandhi and some of the common people as Shirley Temple Black would, I'm sure come back as Apple Blossom trees.
I wish I were an artist. I would paint my own personal tree so that others may understand me just a little bit better. I think I may like to be a Mangrove tree and spend my next life in Florida just waiting each year for the Manatee season.

Cosmic
