POY ENTRY AND MY MOTHERS DAY POST ALL IN ONEThis weeks topic ~ Mother's Day 2004
Last Mother's Day we simply used the word 'Mom' as inspiration. This
year I'd like to try something a little different because Mother's Day
is looked at by so many angles. You may respond to all or one of the
following.......
As a mom, what does/would Mother's Day mean to you? Do you have any
expectations?
As a son or daughter, what does Mother's Day mean to you? Does your
mom deserve a special day?
Share with us a special moment you've had with your mom.
Well, I think Ill go for all three, Alex As a mom, what does/would Mother's Day mean to you? Do you have any
expectations?
As a mom, I will get a phone call from both my kids. Nothing else. I told them years ago that I dont want presents. They know I mean it. All I want is a phone call. Birthday present? Ok. Christmas present? Ok. I dont want a Mothers Day present. First of all, they need their money as much as I do. Next, I think that I should give them a present. Without them, I wouldnt be a mother. They have given me more in the past 30 and 33 years respectively than I could ever want. I have so many wonderful memories that it would take pages and pages to list them all. Yes, I raised them, but that was my choice. That was my job. That was my present. I dont feel I should be rewarded for accepting responsibility for two lives that I helped create. They ARE my reward. As a son or daughter, what does Mother's Day mean to you? Does your mom deserve a special day? Now this is entirely different. As a daughter, Mothers Day was all about Mom. I was always told not to buy her anything. I didnt think she meant it. She always said she didnt need anything. I never believed it. She always said a phone call was enough. I never thought it was. Go figure. She has been gone for almost 23 years. I wish I could call. I wish I could just say Happy Mothers Day. Share with us a special moment you've had with your mom. A special moment? For the past 23 years, I have known that every moment was special. I just never realized it. If your Mother is no longer with you, I understand and am sad with you. If your Mother is alive and well, cherish her, love her and tell her every day, not just Mothers Day just how special she is. If you are adopted, know how special both of your Mothers are. One for loving you so much that she gave you up for a better life and one for raising you and loving you with her whole heart. You are twice blessed. And if you are young enough to consider your Mom a pain in the neck that just doesnt understand you, trust me, she does. Only time will allow you to understand that. And trust me on this too. In 30 years it will be you writing this entry Later
Later, Cosmic
