Hey, did any of you watch Tin Man on Sci-Fi? If not, try to catch it. It�s running all month on Sci-Fi. It is in three parts. It is a new take on the old Wizard of Oz.
In my opinion, is one of the most creative endeavors I have seen in a while. It is hard to follow a classic and try to dome anywhere near, but I think they pulled it off. The Old Dorothy is a new DJ, played by Zooey Deschanel. An old Tin Man is now Tin Man, played by Neal McDonough, so named because he is a police officer that wears a tin badge. The scarecrow is now Glitch who has a zipper in his head. He reminds me so much of Edward Scissorhands it isn�t funny. Rounding out the main characters are A creature that sort of looks like a lion but not. Very similar to the lion on The Wizard of OZ, but with a few differences. Also we have the bad sorcerers played by Kathleen Robertson.
As I said, we loved it. There were many references to the original. They didn�t pretend to be a remake of the Wizard of Oz. The were supposed to have happened at the same place at a different time. The name of the place wasn�t even Oz. It was The O. Z. (The Outer Zone.) It was really a fun three nights. If it comes out on DVD, I will probably have to buy it.
I don�t know if I mentioned this or not. I don�t buy tv series on DVD, only movies. Usually. I broke down before the money was coming to a drop and splurged on the entire series of Charmed. The series ran for 8 years at a combined total of 50 DVD�s
I had such a nice lunch today. I was invited to work to have lunch with Tree, Jan, Charl, Margaret (my replacement), Dean and, last but not least, The other Tom.
I didn�t know they were gifting. We used to do that the Friday before Christmas. Well, they did mine today. Theresa gave me the most beautiful light brown sweater. I need to lose a ton bit of weight for it to look nice, but that will come later. What I wasn�t expecting at all was a card with 6 different gift certificates from all of my co-workers. The way the work is that people will by them at the Chamber of Commerce. When you get the certificates, you also get a list of places they can be used at. I think it is most every place in town.
We ate Chinese food and a frozen ice cream cake and I thought that was wonderful, but.. but� but they still weren�t done!! I will take a picture in the next few days. I have a beautiful silver charm bracelet with a heart on it. On one side of the heart is a K and on the other side, it says 1994 � 2007 WHA. I love it. I loved the lunch and I love my co-workers for doing this for me.
Well, I have to hit the sack. I hae to be in Providence for a cat-scan and paperwork tomorrow. Another day in paradise. Have a great week, everyone.
