Sieze the Day

Good Monday to ya. I found something cute yesterday while surfing. There have been a dew around before, but I hadn't seen this one.

Signs that You've Overdosed on The World Wide Web

Your opening line is: "So, what's your homepage address?"
You see a beautiful sunset, and you half-expect to see "Enhanced for Netscape 4.0" on one of the clouds.
You are overcome with disbelief, anger, and finally depressed acceptance when you encounter a Webpage with no links.
You felt driven to consult the "Cool Page of the Day" on your wedding day.
One of your best friends is Mirsky, and you've never met him.
You are driving on a dark and rainy night when you hydroplane on a puddle, sending your car careening towards the flimsy guardrail that separates you the precipice of a rocky cliff and certain death, and you desperately look for the "Back" button.
You visit "The Really Big Button That Doesn't Do Anything" again and again and again.
Your dog has his own webpage.
So does your hamster.
When you read a magazine, you have an irresistible urge to click on the underlined passages.

I was in the shower this morning and I was thinking to myself.

(* That line is so silly, Have you ever thought to someone else?)

I was thinking about the fact that I am taking next Tuesday off for a four day weekend. In only 5 days, I get to take four days off. Then I was thinging about what I may do in July. I am taking the whole week off then. When all of a sudden I had an epiphany! Yup. A real live epiphany! I have become one of those people I used to warn my kids about becoming.

I was forever hearing when they were young, "I'll be glad when I'm bigger", "I can't wait till I'm old enough to drive.", I can't wait till I'm old enought for .....

I would tell them not to wish their life away. I would tell them that they need to enjoy each day and not dwell on what's down the road, or next year or in 5 years because they would miss out on a lot of things.

Well that's what I find I myself have been doing for quite a while now.

"In 3 more weeks I will have this.", In one month I will be going there." But I've even gotten worse. Now I find myself saying "It's Monday. I get four days off in just 5 more days."

Starting today, I am going to make a concious effort to just enjoy today. Try to find a positive element in the course of the 17 hours I am awake to think about when I go to bed. Maybe one of my stupid jokes will make someone laugh. Maybe I will help someone today and be rewarded by the fact that I was even able to give a hand. Maybe I can just go back to starting each day thanking God for THIS day and not thinking about tomorrow, or next week or next year. Too often we get wrapped up in what we will get, what we will do or where we will go. I know it is a clique, but Stop and smell the roses. It's Monday. If your day is starting out great, that's wonderful. If it's starting out terrible, look on the bright side. It has got nowhere to go but up.

Carpe Diem

I guess those Marines know what their talking about.

Later...

UPDATE!! I have been corrected. Katress has informed me that the Marines motto is Semper Fi (always faithful) Sorry guys. I can't find out where I know Carpe Diem from. I know is was said by Robin Williams in Dead Poets Society, but I've heard it somewhere else.

Later,
Cosmic
