WOW, all hell's broken loose! What a difference a day makes indeed! Sister Buella called yesterday from Virginia. Her catalytic converter broke, but she was still chugging along up the mountains when it chugged it's last chug. She pulled to the side of the road and tried to start it again. Nope, wasn't in the cards. Car was deader than dirt. She calls the local police who send a towtruck. That was bad enough, but the nearest garage was two towns away. She was told it was going to be $100.00 for the tow. This, I might add was told to a woman with only $350.00 on her. Well, having no choice she agreed. It seems as though the guy absolutely terrified her with his driving on the mountains on the way back. You can go over a cliff on these mountains and dissappear. They once found a couple in there car that had gone off the cliff 4 years before. The only reason they were found then was because there were a couple of hunters that were hunting on posted land. I digress. Anyway, I guess she did enough screaming and crying that the guy felt bad for her and only charged $50.00. It was either pity, he figured the entertainment value was worth the $50.00 or he gave her a break just because he was glad to get her out of his truck. I don't know which but you have not seen a hysterical woman until you have seen my sister. If she had played Linda Blair's role in the exorsist, The whole camera crew's heads would have done a 360! They finally go tto the garage and she had to wait and see if they could "fit her in" with the mechanic. Oh ya baby. This female is 60 miles from her daughter's house, she is a woman, and she has no big strong man to handle the situation so they tell her they can fix it for a mear $400.00. Seems it needs a ignition sensor and a clutch sensor, or something like that. OK. She, being the innocent little female askes what they charge for labor. They tell her $50.00 per hour and it would take almost 2 hours. But the parts are what cost. SO she did what any woman would do. She had her daughter go pick her up, went to a parts store got the parts and told them she didn't expect a warranty on them, just put them in. This woman was not a good candidate for the "Screw the little lady" Poster. She worked a few years for an auto supply store. She knows her stuff. Good thing. Unfortunately her bad week went from bad to worse. She finally gets settled at her daughters last night and this morning she gets a phone call that her husband is the hospital in Maine. He's had a heart attack. He will be fine, we pray. He had an angioplasty about 6 months ago. This blockage appears to be in the same area but this time it had caused damage to his heart. He's only 40 years old for crying out loud! So last I talked to Buella, she was back in her daughter's car and they were headed back to Maine. It never rains but it pours. Well I have to hit the sack. I hope to get good news about BIL, Ben, tomorrow. If you have a minute, please go to ibepiglet and give her some love tonight. She had some really bad news today too. Much worse than any of mine. Thanks. Later... Later, Cosmic
