Saturday Catch-up

Its going to be a wonderful day today. From the National Weather Station:

SOUTHEAST WINDS WILL QUICKLY INCREASE THIS MORNING. THE STRONGEST WINDS REACHING SUSTAINED SPEEDS OF 30 TO 40 MPH WITH GUSTS TO 60 MPH WILL BE FROM LATE MORNING THROUGH MID AFTERNOON... ESPECIALLY NEAR THE COAST AND OVER THE BLUE HILLS. A FEW GUSTS COULD REACH AS HIGH AS 70 MPH OVER THE BLUE HILLS. POCKETS OF WIND DAMAGE AND NUMEROUS POWER OUTAGES ARE ANTICIPATED ACROSS THE REGION.

WINDS WILL SHIFT TO SOUTHWEST LATE TODAY AND DIMINISH TO 25 TO 35 MPH WITH GUSTS CLOSE TO 45 MPH...BUT WILL PICK UP AGAIN ON SUNDAY. DAMAGING WEST WIND GUSTS OF 45 TO 55 MPH COULD OCCUR ON SUNDAY...ESPECIALLY DURING THE AFTERNOON HOURS.

Add this High wind warning to this:

FOR THE WATCH HILL POINT NO OBSERVED STAGE IS AVAILABLE. A STORM TIDE OF 5.5 IS FORECAST AROUND 2 PM SATURDAY... AND AGAIN RAPIDLY BUILDING SEAS WILL BE APPROACHING 10 FEET...LIKELY CAUSING SPLASHOVER. STORM TIDE FORECASTS ARE IN FEET MEAN LOWER LOW WATER. TIME OF HIGH TIDE HAS BEEN ROUNDED TO THE NEAREST HOUR. A COASTAL FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT THE COASTAL FLOODING IS IMMINENT. ANYONE WITH INTERESTS ALONG THE COAST INCLUDED IN THIS WARNING MUST TAKE ACTION NOW TO PROTECT PROPERTY. THE COMBINATION OF LARGE SURF AND OR HIGH TIDES WILL RESULT IN FLOODING OF ROADWAYS AND ALTERNATE ROUTES MAY BE NEEDED.

I rarely pay attention to most of these reports, as here in Westerly, it is usually a matter of crying wolf. Severe thunderstorms? They usually miss us. Severe cold? Usually they miss that by 10 degrees. So this time? Eh, not worried.

I got up at 8:30 (more on that later) and glanced out the window on my back yard. Wowsa!

The umbrella that used to be in the middle of my patio table was clear across the yard in the buses. My trash bins were lying on their sides. My chairs were at various places, upside down. My table was turned on its side and some of the things im my yard didnt even belong to me.

And the winds are just starting to pick up! I am guessing by 4:00 5:00 it is going to get much windier. The rains are driving sideways and it has all the looks of a hurricane. I love it. I absolutely love the rain and the wind as long as there is no lightning. None in the forecast. The reason I slept so late was I was totally exhausted. I went to nap for an hour last night. I laid down at 7:00 and Terry woke me for Ghost Whisperer at 8:00. I watch about 45 minutes of it and went back to bed. I got up at 9:30. Take out the time I was awake, and I slept just why of 14 hours! I feel much better today.

I put on a nice pork stew into the slow cooker and plan on doing absolutely nothing today. The reason?

Im on V-A-C-A-T-I-O-N!!!

Yes, I have 16 days of sheer bliss. Well, okay, not all 16. I have to go for blood work on Monday, and EKG on Wednesday and then my procedure a week from Monday. But that is nothing. I also plan on using this time to set up my book signing. I will let you all know when I have a date so those that want to come will have notice.

My son is coming for a 3 day visit tonight. It will be good to see him. From here, he is heading back to Florida.

Not much going on around here but the past week at work Ive been in overdrive. Anyone can do most of my job if Im not there, but there are several things that I do that nobody else does. I never showed them how I do them. Hey, call it job security. So, since I am going to be of for 2 weeks, I had to make sure these things are not going to need attention for at least that long. And it is our year end, so I had to make sure all of my reports for the accountant were done and available so I wont get a call. I think Im covered. I also told my boss that I am turning off my ringer for the next two weeks. She laughed. She thinks Im kidding. Im not.

I have a huge TO DO list for at home things I want to do while Im home. I think Ill write them out so I can see how much I get accomplished.

1. Wash all windows. (I only have a total of 7, so that will be easy.)

2. Wash mini blindsReplace mini blinds. At $4.00 X 7 windows, it makes more sense to replace them than to clean them. Hey, my time is valuable.

3. Wash all walls. Yes, once a year. One room a day = 5 days.

4. Clean kitchen cupboards. Inside and out.

5. Strip all floors.

6. Slap self in head while saying aloud, What WAS I thinking????

7. Rip up list and enjoy my vacation.

Much better.

Lori had a blast filming last week. She worked Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. They told her it would be around ten days (nights) total. She doesnt know which days she will be filming next week, or if the 10 days meant that two filming would be 10 days with or without her. Even if they dont use her again for the rest of it, it was fun. She will always be able to say she did it and will definitely be shown in it. One of the scenes is an argument between two of the main characters and she was right behind them at the time. That scene will be in it for sure. It is the only shots they took of that scene.

Again, even if this is all that she does in it, it was worth it to her. She said she would have done it for the food alone. Yup, a chip off the old block.

Movie Review!

We watched Click last night. Cutsie, but not overly cutsie, but it had some laugh out loud scenes in it. If you watch it, pay attention to the duck scenes. They are the funniest parts of the movie. I am not a huge Adam Sandler fan and I cant watch David Hasselhoff without gagging, but it had its moments. I love Christopher Walken and his character is decent. You will fall in love with Tatum McCann and Joseph Castanon. Tatum was in an episode of Ghost Whisperers last year. She had a tremendous amount of lines and played the part so well, you would be amazed that she was only six. Now at 7, she has shown that she will go far with her acting. Joseph Castanon, on the other hand is a well seasoned actor at the old age of 9. I have watched him in Without a Trace and NCIS. He is a natural. You want to bundle both of these kids up and take them home.

The rest of the cast is wonderful too. The plot is pretty good and the ending is obvious, but its worth renting. Dont let your kids under 12 see it or you will be answering questions throughout. A strong PG-13 here for sexual (no nude) scenes.

Later,
Cosmic
