Fire in RI Last night's ENTRY Was funny. This one is not.
I woke to a horrible story on the news this morning. A club here in West Warwick caught fire last night. On scene there were 39 people killed. That number will increase as the day goes on. They are still clearing the building and there is no update about the people who were taken to the hospital yet. An 80's rock group, Great White, was performing and to start the show, they had a pyrotech show. At the very start, the whole place became ingulfed in flames. Every available ambulance in the state was called into action but the place was an inferno within seconds. There was no sprinkler system because given the size and the fact that it was only one floor, there was no need. They said the building capacity was 300 and it wasn't over that amount. The biggest reason for the amount of fatalities was that most of the people attending had never been in the building before so the majority of people all tried to exit the main door at the same time. There were 3 other exits. We wait for more news. The first thing I did was call my daughter. I know she hates heavy metal. I know she goes to clubs in Connecticut, not RI, but I still had to hear her voice this morning to be sure. I cannot even fathom what these families will go through in the next hours, days or weeks. My heartfelt prayers go out to them. This is the largest fire in RI history. They hadn't gotten a permit for the fireworks display. Later,
