OK, Now I've Lost It! (literally) Wow, my second entry in the same day!! Update from this entry. Well, Ollie, here's another fine mess I've gotten myself into. Microsoft can kiss my rosey red butt!!! Ever since I tried to download the patch, my computer is going wonkey. I know what your thinking. I DID NOT take anything out except my pictures and hardware. I used add and remove. I did it the right way. And yes, when it asks if I want to remove a file that MAY affect other programs, I always answer, "no to all". All of a sudden, I cannot play my Yahoo games. I click on "play" and I'm bumped off the internet. This was not once, but even now still. I checked the site on Terry's computer and it's fine. That was phase one. Slowly but surely, other pages are doing the same thing. I check out the lightning map at intellicast. "BUMP" By tomorrow, I expect other pages will do the same. I even got "bumped" off a soap opera site while trying to find an actress's name. I am not normally a paranoid person, but I have no other explanation other than when you try to download using a "Pirated" OS (Operating System) that maybe, just maybe they put some other type of file in that slowly eats up your capabilities. I have a feeling that by Monday, most of the internet will be bumping me out. Maybe I am wrong, but it is very suspicious. But have no fear. I got in touch with Super computer doctor and my baby goes into the shop on Monday. He is going to remove the whole Operating system and replace it with our bought-and-paid-for-thank-you-very-much Windows 98. This is really a good thing. I will be able to put all my hardware stuff back in with it's original drivers and I also know win 98 like the back of my hand. I am going to be a very happy camper come Tuesday when I pick it up. Are you all about sick and tired of hearing about my computer woes? I'm sick of talking about them. Hey, you want updates? This is my life right now. Deal.
I will get more creative, I promise. Just allow me a little self pity right now. My baby is going to be unusable soon and not be ok for at least 3 days. I am already starting to suffer withdrawal. Terry said not to worry. I can use his. Do you believe that??? Use his computer instead of mine? Blasphemy!! I'd rather use his toothbrush! That would be like wearing his underwear! Almost as bad as using his washcloth. Ewwwwww! Nope. I have a weird relationship with my computer. We are close. When it is hurt, I hurt with it. When it is sick, I am sick with it. I am thinking maybe I will use my last day off until October and take it in and sit with it during surgery. I could go in and hold the mouse while he worked on it. I would sing to it while he removed the Windows XP so it wouldn't be scared. I could wipe the screen with Windex so it wouldn't overheat. I can't bear the thought of coming home to an empty space on my computer desk. It just won't feel right. We have been through so much together. Late nights. stroking the keyboard when I am happy, when I'm sad. It has been there for me like a trusted friend. No, I must be brave. I will tell computer man to call me at work as soon as my baby is out of surgery. I will bring it home and feed it goodies like a camera driver, a scanner driver and anything else it asks for. I will dust it every day and not stuff it with useless junk food like Kazaa or meaningless photos of family and friends. I will talk to it every day and assure it that it is my very best friend.
