Happy Saturday

What a great week this has been! I probably shouldnt jinx it by saying it, but what the hell. This week Terry was looking in the paper and someone had a Flex-matic bed for sale for $75.00. I called to see where the people lived that owned it. I wouldnt buy from some neighborhoods. Not that the people arent nice, but there are areas in town where roaches and vermin live. Thanks, but no thanks.

So I called and found out that the man that owned it had bought it second hand for his dad, but unfortunately, dad didnt make it out of the nursing home so he no longer needed it. It is four or five years old, but works great. I told him I had a sleep number mattress and didnt need the mattress that same with it, so he offered to keep it. I then told him I would like to see it.

I arranged to go the next morning. I was pleased. It had been gently used. I told him I would have to arrange to have someone pick it up for me. He offered to deliver. I tried to give him $100.00, but he wouldnt take it. He said $75.00 was the price. He gave me back $20.00 but couldnt break the other 20 so he agreed to take $80.

He said he didnt mind, as he made a connection with someone that would appreciate his efforts. I assured him that I did. when he showed up with it on Wednesday, he even took away my old box spring. A prince amoung men.

I have now slept on it 2 nights with about a 30% incline at the top. I love it! It doesnt look any different than my regular twin bed. It isnt a hospital bed, it is for anyone that likes to sit up in bed, so the bedroom doesnt have that handicapped look to it.

I also got a check in the mail. I may have mentioned this before, but Im too lazy to look. I worked for Commercial Union Insurance Company back around 1982 for a year or two. I had forgotten that they had some kind of profit sharing/pension annuity or whatever it was. I got a letter three weeks ago that I was going to be getting $385.00 after taxes. Cool beans! It paid for the bed! I also bought two new cabinets for the bathroom to dress it up a bit and hide all my treatment junk. And my lotions, and my makeup, and our creams, ointments, etc. They were each $47.00 on sale at Pennys. Paid for by the check.

Today, we had an uncook-cookout. I invited my neighbor and her daughter, Lori and the girls. What is an uncook cookout? Well more accurately, it is a no cook eat-out. I ordered a humongous bunch of chicken, mashed potato and gravy, potato wedges, corn on the cob and Mac and Cheese from KFC. Nobody had to cook, we ate on paper plates and one trash bag cleaned it all up. My kind of cookout. It felt normal for a change. It was great! Total cost? $50.00 including the paper plates. Paid for by the check.

Im feeling pretty good too. My feet and legs are still swollen pretty bad, but the doctor has me on a new regimen. When I was ok and home from the hospital, my weight was 157. So now if my morning weight is over 160, I take and extra water pill during the day. I do that till it gets back down below 160 and then go back to one. Well, yesterday and today, I had to take two. Well see how tomorrow goes. At least, Im busy and getting some stuff done. No, Im not overdoing it. I really feel good getting things done. I have managed in the past few days to hang some pictures, do all the laundry and tomorrow, I am putting the two cabinets together.

I wanted to do a little something for Lori for jumping through hoops for us the past few months. I paid her cell phone bill for her this month. You would have thought I was Santa Clause, she was so grateful. Paid for by the check.

All that and I still have $75.00 left.

Another good thing planned this week. Terry and I are planning a week night over-night stay at Foxwoods at the end of October. I will get my last longevity check from work before I officially retire. We never have gone anywhere in the 10 years we have been married, so we are sparing no expense. Go to the casino on a Wednesday noon, eat at the bouffet and gamble. Go up to our room and check in around 4pm and relax for a bit. Go back down and gamble some more from 5 to 7, have dinner in one of the restraunts, go see a free show of Gary Pucket at 9. Go and gamble some more and head up to our room.

Get up Thursday morning and order room service for breakfast, check out and gamble for awhile and come home in the afternoon sometime.
We are going to pretend we are rich. Of course, I will be handing out my book business cards and dropping them at strategic places. Who knows who may end up with one?

I am not famous nor rich, but for 36 hours, I am going to pretend to be. What fun!!

Don't forget to sign my notify list. Please.
Oh, and one more thing. I switched ozygen companies, so the new taks only weigh about 4 pounds. The only las 2 hours, but on Thursday the respiration person is coming to do some tests. If I pass the tests, I can wear a better setuo called "on demand". With this setup, one bottle will last me about 6 hours. That will be great. I was going to go with the liquid oxygen, but I have talked to many people in the past few weeks including the oxygen people and it is a little more risk than the tanks. If you aren't very careful filling them or keeping them upright, they can freeze. I don't really want anything that I have to be very careful with. I am a natural klutz. So fingers crossed I can use the other one. Thursday will tell. Have a great Sunday!

Later,
Cosmic
